Stream It Or Skip It: 'Royalteen: Princess Margrethe' on Netflix, the Second in a Series of DOA Norwegian Teen Romances Sex scenes in modern films have something unrealistically voyeuristic about them.Seth Rogen Slams Streaming Service Execs for Their "Secretiveness" and "Insane Salaries": "Thank God for These Labor Unions" They were more realistic because generally speaking there are no audiences to people's sex lives. Where does it all end? Will paedophilia on screen one day be acceptable? It was much better when sex scenes were left to the imagination. Why lead kids and adults to believe something is historical when it is not!Īlso, I have concerns that in the secular world it seems any type of sex is fine. All good films but disappointing when you discover the film claims to be biographical but is actually fictional. The film Lawrence of Arabia bent the truth about T E Lawrence, as well. The author of the book makes no pretence it is anything else but fictional but then why call Marilyn, Marilyn when the other characters in the film or the book are recognizable as factual characters but are given fake names. Blonde is another factional movie that misrepresents the truth about Marilyn Monroe. Nobody wants to be misrepresented in life or after death. I think if films are to be made about genuine factual people, then they should stick to the historical facts. If she was not and was still here to complain, it would be fair for her to say she had been misrepresented. Also, there is no proof that Channing was a lesbian which also bothers me. It's a shame to have to give it such a low rating because apart from that it is a good film. I'm surprised some people see this scene in Ammonite as just female nudity because it is a lot more than that. If the scenes had been between a man and a woman I think it would have been X rated. Rarely do you see such pornographic displays of oral sex and certainly an R film should not have graphic oral sex. I have to give this film a low rating because the sex scenes are surprisingly graphic. Swearing is infrequent but includes "f-k" and "s-t." Characters drink alcohol socially, and one character smokes throughout the movie. There is also a brief moment where a male character undresses and his penis is seen. There's full-frontal nudity, including female genitalia and breasts. They perform oral sex on each other and masturbate. The sex scenes between Mary and Charlotte are graphic but not gratuitous. That said, the movie also demonstrates the inequalities between the sexes during this time period (the 1840s), with Mary being prevented from even greater success. Mary, in particular, defies societal boundaries to make a great success for herself in her chosen field. Both characters have a quiet strength about them.

The two women begin an affair, bringing them both happiness they haven't experienced before. Mary meets Charlotte Murchison ( Saoirse Ronan) after Charlotte's husband arranges for her to work with Mary. It is loosely based on the life of the British palaeontologist Mary Anning ( Kate Winslet). Parents need to know that Ammonite is a sexually graphic period drama that celebrates the power of love between two women. There is a scene in a restaurant where characters order wine.ĭid you know you can flag iffy content? Adjust limits for Drinking, Drugs & Smoking in your kid's entertainment guide.
